Biography of Robert Lane
Robert has a BA [English major], and Diploma of Education from Melbourne University, and a Graduate Diploma in Professional Writing from Latrobe University. He has been widely published and is currently finishing his novel: The Bittersweet Recollections of Wilco Crackling: Antipoet. He will soon endeavour to write a second called: A Mouth Full of Ulcers. Robert is a frequent reader at poetry venues and a workshop facilitator and educator. In 1984, when he was eighteen he attended university for three drunken months. Despite having access to a previous student's workbooks he still couldn't get the work copied on time. So he set out on a wood-splitting career which was tragically cut short when his friend split his finger instead of the log he was holding. After that he worked as a fry cook, waiter, nurseryperson, telephonist, door-to-door salesperson, and as a post office sorter. Robert played trumpet like a staccato harlot on mushrooms for bands such as: Rah Rah the Flag, Love Stinks, Pigs in Serious Shit, Big Bullets on Wheels, The Vacuum Safari Suits, The Horns of Doom, Gothic Farmyard, The Boxing Tostados, among others. He stared in films such as: The Brass Jungle and What Ever Happened to Robby Lane?. Robert was a founding member of the Dadaist punk movement Wank Art, yes it's true, his signature is there at the bottom of the manifesto. He is currently editor of the online poetry journal Malleable Jangle.
